Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of foretokenlabs.com and the Steel-Manning Workbench application at app.foretokenlabs.com (together, the "Service"), operated by Foretoken Labs LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("Foretoken Labs," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not access or use the Service.

The Service

Steel-Manning Workbench is an AI-assisted document analysis tool. You submit a document containing an argument or position; the Service analyzes it and produces a report — including a structured argument map, vulnerability assessment, steel-man reconstruction of the opposing case, and threat assessment with hardening recommendations — delivered to you as a PDF. The Service uses a credit-based pricing model: each analysis consumes one credit, and credits are purchased in packs or granted as part of a free trial.

Accounts

You need an account to use the analysis features of the Service. Accounts are authenticated via email-based sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining control of your email account and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at the contact address below if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.

Credits and payment

  • New accounts receive a limited number of free trial credits.
  • Additional credits are purchased in packs through our payment processor, Stripe, at the prices displayed on the Service at the time of purchase.
  • One credit is consumed per completed analysis.
  • Credits are non-refundable once consumed. If a technical failure on our side prevents an analysis from completing, the credit used for that attempt will be restored to your account.
  • Purchased credits do not expire, but remain tied to the account that purchased them and are forfeited if that account is terminated for violating these Terms.
  • We may change pricing at any time. Changes will not affect credits you have already purchased.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to analyze content you do not have the right to submit
  • Upload content that infringes the rights of others, or that is defamatory, harassing, or otherwise unlawful
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its underlying systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit metering, or trial restrictions
  • Scrape, copy, or republish substantial portions of the Service's content or generated reports without our written permission
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the prompts, methodology, or underlying models used by the Service

AI-generated content and limitations of liability

The Service uses artificial intelligence — including third-party large language models — to generate its analysis and reports. AI-generated output can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or simply wrong. The Service may misread your document, mischaracterize an argument, omit relevant considerations, or produce output that sounds confident but is not correct.

The output is a tool to support your judgment, not a substitute for it. You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, and deciding whether and how to act on any output from the Service. This includes decisions to revise, submit, publish, or otherwise act on any document, argument, or position based on the Service's analysis. Any consequences — professional, legal, financial, reputational, or otherwise — that result from how you choose to use the output are your responsibility alone.

The Service does not provide legal, financial, medical, tax, investment, or any other professional advice. Output from the Service is intended to help you think through an argument or position more rigorously. It is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional in any field.

We make no representation or warranty, express or implied, that any output is accurate, complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose.

Intellectual property

Your content. You retain all rights to the documents you submit. We do not claim ownership of your content. By submitting a document, you grant us a limited license to process it solely for the purpose of generating your analysis, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Our content. All other content on the Service — including the Foretoken Labs name and wordmark, the Service's design and code, and the methodology, prompts, and report structure used to generate analyses — is owned by Foretoken Labs or used with permission. You may quote short excerpts from your own generated reports with attribution. Any other use of our content requires written permission.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or availability. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Foretoken Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including any reliance on, or action taken based on, AI-generated output.
  • Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, including the acceptable use provisions above. If your account is terminated for cause, any remaining credit balance is forfeited. If you wish to close your account voluntarily and have a question about a remaining balance, contact us at the address below.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Before pursuing formal legal action, we encourage you to contact us at the address below so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Subject to that, any dispute that cannot be resolved informally may be brought in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, or, where eligible, in small claims court in your local jurisdiction.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
